I just wanted to bring up a couple points for you to consider, OP.
If you have a criminal record or documented mental health issues, it is unlikely you will be hired.
School bus driver applicants are heavily investigated in many jurisdictions.
Driving a school bus used to be a place to go while tickets fell off your license, but no more. Not for years now.
When I worked at a transit authority, several of my co-workers drove school buses on relief. The people working for a school district made about $16 to $20 an hour. The people working for a contractor (Durham, First Student, etc) made $11- $16 an hour. 14 to 24 hours a week.
The pay varies widely from district to district. You'll have to call around your local area.
Good luck.racemaxx24, BigDog Trucker and Mike2633 Thank this. -
I would steer clear of bus companies, they don't have good pay or benefits. School busing is a buyer beware situation your better working for a district then a bus company, but it's certainly a thing you have to do home work on and it's not like driving a cargo van of wine around you've got kids and stuff on board, it's a big difference.
homeskillet Thanks this. -
Didn't you tell us a while back that you're on some kind of disability for psychological problems and that you weren't eligible for a CDL because of that?
I would think that driving a school bus would aggravate your condition,not4hire, brian991219, buddyd157 and 2 others Thank this. -
With a screen name like "I love tequila", I think school bus driver is a perfect job for the OP.
LoneRanger, kemosabi49, homeskillet and 4 others Thank this. -
I guess like everything else it depends on your location. Near me they are constantly having issues with bus drivers and accidents, either due to carelessness or under the influence of alcohol/drugs. Earlier this week actually a bus driver the next county over was doped up Xanax, went off the side of a 2 lane road and rolled the bus on its side with students on board. They found her in possession of 100 something pills not belonging to her. Not long ago another one was detained by the cops while running his route due to being drunk to the point of passing out. I’d be scared s**tless to let one of my children ride a bus herehomeskillet and Mike2633 Thank this.

Driving is one of the things that i can do where it doesn't bother me... Driving a school bus a couple times a week shouldn't be no problem... Idk if i can even get my cdl, being a relief driver for the county school board might not be able to happen because of the amount of money that i would get paid... That's why in my earlier threads i was talking about being paid in cash and finding an under the table Driving job if i can't get my cdl... I am probably going to get a job that pays in cash bc i can't find a job that keeps my allowed limit under what im able to make extra...
