Quick question about pay. I am looking at working for an guy who wants to pay me by a % of the load. No mention of miles, just a % of the load. Is this good? Also, what is a good %? 25-30, 40-50? I am new to this so any help would be great!

22-25% is a good starting point.
The more loads you haul the more money you make. Making it very incentive based to work as much as possible. -
35% of gross is about all a truck makes in profit anyway. So 25% would be very good. The owner isn't making out so hot no matter what really.
Now if the truck is leased on and the owner only gets 70-75% of gross to the truck, then you'll need 33% of that (which is the same as 25% of gross).Baack Thanks this. -
I tried working for a company called Sun Delivery out of North Carolina. The warehouse I drove out of is in Rancho Cucamonga. It's delivering high end furniture to rich people both famous and not in the 11 western states. My FIRST day out I went to John Fogerty's house to deliver a dresser. Anyway, I was told I was getting a percentage of what the truck makes, but not only is it NOT a percentage of the gross, it's only a percentage of the PROFIT which they told me was after everything was paid, EVEN ME! (how that makes sense I couldnt tell you) Then to top it all off, they told me what the trucks profit actually was, was none of my business as an employee. So my employment ended not on the arguement of how stupid the pay was, but on the arguement of if I get paid a percentage, I have every right to know what the numbers are, because I am getting a percentage of that number
