Mine was saying the same thing lately. I decided to change out the thermatic oil valve on the oil cooler in case it was sticking and not allowing oil to flow through the oil cooler.
-
Yea I meant definitely.

Would oil filters or a bypass system help with this sorta thing? How about draining out some oil and filling it with new oil in the meantime?
-
I burn about 2 gallons of oil between changes so really no point in that. It's probably just a one sample issue.

Yeah, you have to watch patterns over several samples to come to any real conclusion on a problem. There can be occasional spikes in various things that do not mean there is a real problem. And with something like an elevated oxidation level, did the viscosity go out of grade? Were there increased wear metals also? One has to look at the overall picture to get perspective. One data point does not determine a problem. Usually, when one thing goes goofy, it shows up in other areas of an oil sample also if it is a problem.

I don't remember. I'm sure if I had more buckets of it I continued to use it. Before I got rid of that truck I went back to running Wal Mart Supertech oil again. And that's what I run now. Never really have to catch it on sale because it's always the cheapest and the one gallon jugs are a lot more convenient than 5 gallon buckets imo.

if you see oil oxidation is up in series 60 14L it may indicate pistons are getting hot. Over spraying injector causes piston's high temperature. Pistons are getting cooled by oil...
