Well I ate my words on fuel additives this morning.

I’ll have to ask my buddy when I have breakfast with him on Saturday in Missoula if any of Cliff’s guys are having trouble. TP was always the go to for us when it was going to be bad. Their #1 was rated down to -45.

 

I wouldn't try it in a truck with DEF, but we used to mix plain old unleaded gas in them, 1 gallon of gas per 100 gallons of fuel and never had a problem.

 

Buddy of mine uses wool socks. Runs straight #2 all winter. Of course, he has a Series 60, so that helps too.

Ya the red river valley is kinda the armpit of cold weather, lol! I'm over in the BisMan area my self. Just got home from Rapid City. It was upper 30s there this morning, negative 3 now at home........

 

I was headed north out of Idaho Falls once when I was flatbedding. Filled up with straight #1 at KJ’s, idled the truck up, and went to bed. The next morning I went through West Yellowstone at about 9am, it was -46 and there were gelled up trucks sitting all over the place. North of there I caught up to a pickup with a bunch of construction workers in it and they were gelling up. I gave one of them a ride to Big Sky so he could call for help. You get into those -30 and -40 temps and stuff gets serious quickly.
