This makes it sound like you can not transport more than 10, 000 pounds with a class B.

"A Class B CDL allows you to drive a commercial motor vehicle (CMV) with a loaded weight of 26,001lbs (11,793kg) or more, or any such vehicle towing a vehicle with a maximum weight of 10,000lbs"

Does "towing a vehicle" on a straight truck mean the box/trailer?

We have straight trucks that are 33,000 pounds (12k front axle and 21k rear axle). With a Class B license am I only allowed to transport 10k pounds of product?

    Google!

What is a Class B weight limit?
Class B: Any single vehicle which has a gross vehicle weight rating or gross vehicle weight of 11,794 or more kilograms (26,001 pounds or more), or any such vehicle towing a vehicle with a gross vehicle weight rating or gross vehicle weight that does not exceed 4,536 kilograms (10,000 pounds)

Can you explain what they mean by "towing a vehicle... that does not exceed 10,000"?

Your trailer (that thing that is hooked behind your truck) weight can not exceed 10K :rolleyes::rolleyes:. Trailer is a thing that you can unhook from your truck:D:):D:)!

This is for a straight truck. So the actual attached box/frame can not weigh more than 10,000? Plus it says towing a vehicle, a trailer is not a vehicle. It should say towing a trailer.

33K. Doesn’t have to be a trailer- could be dolly with a car on it or just a car/truck etc;).

Definition of vehicle. 1 : a means of carrying or transporting something planes, trains, and other vehicles : such as. a : motor vehicle. b : a piece of mechanized equipment.(Merian-Webster)

So a Class B weight limit of what I can transport is dependent upon what the Class b truck indicates on door panel? The 10,000 pound towing capacity of a straight truck is the trailer itself and nothing to do with cargo weight?

How can you pass a CDL test and not know this?
