An ELD is simply a device that records your HOS rather then writing in a paper log....nothing more.If you can't make money using an ELD ,your doing it wrong. The HOS are the same whether they are being recorded electronically or on paper.

Oh i know, its just not flexable like paper logs. You cant spend 3 hours waiting to unload and change it to driving time and your driving time to off-duty like you can with paper logs....that was just standard practice in grain hauling, we basically all did it to either get home or setup for our reload as dispatch planned it.
If you didnt do it that way you were sitting at home.
Like i mentioned in an earlier post our dispatch realized pretty quick they werent getting the same amounts of loads with the same amount of trucks done on ELD's as they were on paper logs. Its become a revolving door now, constantly hiring drivers as guys quit because they arent getting work.

Take if you own your own hoppers? You by the mile or percentage?

Sadly that is the exact reason we have the ELD , because of all the "cheating" that we did for years.

Very true, dispatchers and rates are going to have to start compensating more than they are to actually make money

Or figure out a way to keep the lines at the elevators moving. Maybe change their methods from ordering 200 loads for the day the train is scheduled to arrive.

    joey8686 and uncleal13 Thank this.
