Hi all,
Whilst driving along last night, passing trucks parked up on layovers etc, a thought crossed my mind, and perhaps an idea for a product that may be of use to truck drivers worldwide, so can I as your advice please ?
I know there must be many regular Truck stops that give you access to showers etc etc, and somewhere that you can really freshen up before you hit the road again.
But, assuming you lay up somewhere on the side of the road, no facilities let alone showers etc, what do most of you Drivers do to freshen up and feel better before you hit the road again ?
Do you carry water in-cab, or towels ? Or even Wet wipes ?
I know how I feel after a few hours driving, let alone a few days, so have an idea of something that may just make it a little easier to really feel fresher again and at least something like after a shower.
I hope this all isnt a little too intrusive, I am just researching the facts before I dismiss the idea out of hand !
Any inside info would be much appreciated, and who knows, my idea may just help one day
Cheers.

wet wipes are good.
I always travel on a set route or same places all the time, so I use particular roadside parking spots with easy access to local streams. I simply grab my bag and towel and hit the creek to wash up. use a bar of soap that I make a hole in with a bic pen and tie shoe-string to it so I dont lose it.

Just kidding.... -
Wet wipes (baby wipes) are the next best thing to a shower.

Wet wipes are handy. Also, we carry a water jug with a dispenser on it so it works like a sink. Sit it in the sun and pretso, warm water.

Wet wipes, buy them by the case. I always keep a gallon or two of water on the truck for cleaning my hands, arms and face, along with waterless hand cleaner.
Another essential is Lysol, I spray the drivers seat almost daily, great for killing germs. I also take that into the showers with me, I WONT shower unless I can spray the floor of the shower. NO WAY WILL I EVER CONTRACT SOME STINKY FOOTED DRIVERS ATHLETES FOOT EVER AGAIN!!! Oh, and flip flops for wearing in the shower. My bare feet actually never touch the floor.
I also keep my dirty laundry in a fish-net looking bag purchased from Wal Mart. The open weave allows the bag to breath, and the clothes to stay dry, free from mold mildew and other icky stinky stuff.
If you do come up with a new useful product for keeping me clean, I will be first in line to plunk down my cash. -
I drive nekkid. A rolled down wind'er and the road spray is all I need to feel fresh.

well i carry water by the case, when no facility to take showers, i do the hospital bath, it works well 'till you get to a shower.

About the soap or the bic?
-
I carry a few washcloths with me and I always have water. On the rare occasions I can't shower, just wet down a washcloth and scrub up. Better than nothing. I don't like to wash with wet wipes cause they leave a residue. I carry Clorox wipes for cleaning my hands before eating and wiping down surfaces in the truck, but I don't bathe with them. I prefer just plain water.

Thx for the feedback all, interesting. Wet wipes a bit small I would think ?
Seems most of you would hope for something better if it was available, so maybe there is something in my idea.....
Any more comments gratefully read.
