So, any updates on what was causing your coolant issue?
-
Sorry been busy as hell. My egr cooler must have been bad. Im not 100 percent sure but I unplugged the egr valve and I have not overheated once or added a drop of coolant. I should be back home between the 25th and 27th. Going to have some buddies who know more about this stuff than I do. So other than that no real progress but I am ordering a delete kit. Yes I know it's not legal on the interstates . I will have a definitive answer sometime after that once it is taken apart. I will update but regardless I am deleting this #####!
onetime42 Thanks this. -
That was going to be my followup question....if deleting the egr would help. Thanks for the update. I hope you get this sorted so you can start putting some money back in your pocket. Good luck!

Thanks man . I am assuming it will help . My buddy said it is a no brainer so im taking his word and we will get it done before the next run. He is actually ordering what we need and I will square away with him . I will try and get some pics and update when I complete the delete.

With that much of a leak you should be able to pressure the cooling system and see where the leak is??
-
Im guessing you can I've seen videos of people doing the pressure test. I just went with what I was told and unplugged the valve. It has worked fine for now until I delete it. I haven't had time to do anything but drive and I am thankful a little plug has saved me not only money but lots of time.

I just recently watched a YouTube video of a guy showing how to unplug your egr without it causing your check engine light to come on. I'm pretty sure it depends on which Cummins motor you have. Pretty interesting. Someone mentioned in the video's comments about dealing with a leaking egr cooler and was advised to simply bypass it rather than replace it. I wonder if that is an easy task and whether or not that's a cost saving alternative to buying a delete kit?

Bypass, delete. Tomato, tomahtoe.
onetime42 Thanks this.
