Must be a youngster....can't remember the last time I stripped for an "overhead"......

I dunno. Hope it works out for him. I don't know how those of us who're paid to do that job manage to fit a torque wrench in there?

Even building my 3406 I've invested $500 into tooling I didn't have. $500 is cheap compared to re-doing a head gasket or replacing a crankshaft.

 

Yes same cover. Till you go old school like b- models and I pretty sure they tighten the same.

 

I haven't kept up on that thread. But when I do my main caps. You tourqe to a certain ft lb. Then turn so many flats. But I'm guess in he just wants to know how many flats to turn from time bolt head bottoms out. Not a smart thing to do !

I don't understand when people come on here looking for help and when they don't like what they hear they get all defensive and mad. As far as I'm concerned he's gonna do it his way and nobody gonna tell him what to do. I guess will see if it works out for him. I understand he's old and is a PITA to get in there but go find someone with the right tools and let them lend a hand.
