I sought a job with warehouse and driving duties fresh from school and i found a good paying job that let me get used to backing and driving all on a nice quiet 3rd shift. From there i went OTR following year and helped put me above fresh recruits. Youll find your way thru but that was my decision and wage wise i think best bet.

Spoke with a recruiter at KLLM school last week and was informed that FFE pays HHG mileage. They start at $.40/mile and give raises of $.01/yr. They DO NOT pay bonuses.

To the credit of the KLLM school they train you on manual 10 spds and autos.

FFE doesn't make my list of potential employers.

The recruiter is Kathy Harvey at the Lancaster, Texas school. She said they just stopped giving bonuses. That's all I know.

KLLM and FFE are both trained at that school in Lancaster with the 10 speeds.

Neither company will put you in one after school.

At FFE over on the plasma side I even paid 850.00 on my hometime week. If I work through my hometime week, I still get paid it. 3 weeks on, 1 week off.

    Average 1500.00 a week.

0.40 for all miles dispatched for both drivers. 30.00 stop pay. 50.00 drop pay.

    150.00 layover.

The plasma shuttle drivers make 1450.00 a week salary. They do not drive very much at all. That is a solo driver position. Same off time.

Im not interested in shuttle because you have limited opportunity to make more. But some guys like it a lot better because no loading and around only 1200 miles a week to and from the same places.

That sounds a whole lot better than what I was told. After she gave me the basic info I asked questions and 3 times I asked her if there was anything else I needed to know. None of this came up.
Oh, well. Knowing this now it might be a good place to start.

I'd rather have manual on my CDL for future opportunities. Not hung up on driving only manuals. Just want to get as many things on my CDL as possible.

They like to push KLLM on to people. Its a larger company that needs more drivers.

That dont talk too much about plasma in the beginning. I didnt hear about it until my 3rd week in the school.

Also there will be a lot of rumors floating around. I hear about it from people I trained. They will have one of us come to the class and talk to yall about it. They will also run a simulation so you can get an idea about what it's like.

With FFE the best money is definitely running teams. They have local, regional, linehaul, plasma, and they do some Tyson and Cargill.

Its nice man. I'm happy with FFE. Been there 2 years. Its not perfect of course but my checks make it easy to deal with.

The plasma stuff is going to be the most demanding. You load the trailer. Its driving across country coast to coast, border to border. But its fun also. You get to drive through most cities not just pass them. We dont go into NYC.

Some challenging driving situations. But mostly in my opinion the hardest part is just sharing a truck and early on sleeping while truck is moving.

Also guys that cant drive overnight don't really do well.
