I would not slip seat and I don't do sliding scale. Pick a CPM I can handle and keep me loaded and rolling. Anything else is BS.
Going home is costly. We tried to save that for winter time. But if not? We stayed out home is wherever we were.

I was looking for a slip seat job but I have an auto restriction so it’s tough. 7 on 7 off as long as I can pocket 1200 I’d be able to survive and enjoy myself again. Right now looking at non slip seat 6on 3-4 off.

It's a great idea by knight.
They're offering a part time OTR position for mostly
Older drivers who don't want or need the full time
Grind of the job anymore.
Who can live on less money.
What's wrong with that.
I think more companies should do it.
Slip seating is part of the deal.
I got no problem with that if you give me a week
Off after 1 or 2 out there. Ain't nobody else giving
Me that much time off.
It's also a good job to transition from OTR, slowly
Back into a normal life.
For those of us who live off of the beaten path.
We can make the same amount of money in 2 weeks
On the road, that would take us a month to make at
The ####ty local dump truck, log truck, rock and gravel
Places that pay 12 to 15 bucks an hour.
Why work a month for what I can make in a couple weeks.
Take the other 2 weeks off.
Why does a truck driver have to work 80 hours a week
His whole life. Nobody else does.
It's all about where you are financially to take
This position.Opendeckin, Mototom, Cabinover101 and 2 others Thank this. -
Western flyer Thanks this.

Hey Sgt, I'm currently driving as a slip seat driver for Knight trans out of Hutchins tx. The recruiter told me the exact same thing and it's not exactly 100 percent accurate.
First off, the schedule I follow is the one I give, I've stayed out 2 weeks then went home 7, been out 6 weeks and home for 15 days, my DM just asks me how long I want to be out and it's not set in stone even then I can call with a reasonable notice and be off early if I want to. Perks of never holding a truck hostage on your off time.
2nd thing is the sliding pay scale is because knight takes alot of short loads, hence the sliding pay scale. Makes it really tough to get good paychecks and you have alot of appointments to make, I'd say average run is 300 miles.
Message me if you have any more questions! -
When I worked with Schneider they had this 2 weeks on 1 week off.
3 drivers between 2 trucks. The 3 drivers always keep the same 2 trucks. -
I slipseat as a daycab driver & if you have damage & don't take a picture & report via e-mail before you move the truck each day, you can get blamed. I do the same with trailers 2.5yrs have had no issues yetpumpkinishere Thanks this. -
i do not like sliding scale pay, i want consistent pay at all times.that way, i can pretty mush depend on a good weekly paycheck, rather than wonder each week how much more or less i will be taking home.
So you would rather get consistently less pay by getting paid the same for all miles, rather then getting paid more for runs under 500 miles?
Example - If driver A drives 2500 miles & gets paid 50cpm for all miles he makes $1250
If driver B is on sliding scale at 50cpm & does 2500 miles & all the loads are over 500 he gets paid $1250. But if any of the loads are under 500 miles then he makes MORE then $1250. You NEVER get paid less when running the same miles as a driver not on sliding scale, Only MORE.Blue Zombie Trucker and alds Thank this. -
