So I have been unemployed for about 7 months now and just cannot seem to find a job even though I have years of experience working in low level jobs (Casinos, Security, Retail, etc.) And am only 9 classes away from my Bachelors degree.
I keep going back and forth on getting my CDL again - got one in 2014 and never used it. Im wondering, if I go get it "refreshed" can I get a regional route (maybe even if I get it through a company) and work 6 months or so and then find a local job?
I hear LTL alot for local jobs and would love to drive locally in South Jersey but Im curious - is the money there? Will I make 75-80k a year plus down the road, or will I make 40-50k after putting time in?
How much time will I need? Is it worth it???
Well, Im considering again...

You won't make what they say you will unless all you do is drive and sleep.
If you have another alternatives I'd go for that.

You can make that with Estes Express, R&L Carriers, Old Dominion line haul divisions.

One new cdl school grad posted he went to a Estes Express job fair in New Jersey and was hired on the spot. The ad was, "need 2 yrs. experience", but he was hired anyway.
For the home time you want and the pay, do what you have to do to qualify for line haul jobs with those 3 companies I mentioned.

The money is out there but that depends on you as a driver. Would have to keep your record clean and make vertical moves instead of job hopping.
