I did a search for threads on my upcoming question and didn’t find anything related, so...
I have a company that is willing to provide a pre-hire letter, but when running my MVR and background, errant information has come back. The HR person with whom I spoke said that a decision to move forward with a pre-hire letter would be made by her and her boss. Basically, my felony conviction is being noted as a completely different and more severe charge. How can I get this corrected? Without getting it corrected, there is 0 chance for me to be given a chance by a company that isn’t going to take advantage of me.
Side note: This company is a smaller company and not a mega carrier. The HR rep’s boss may likely be the company owner.

I had an issue when I was getting my TWIC card from some old incident that I was originally arrested and charged with a fellony. When I went to court the charges dropped to a misdemeanor as a fellony wasn't really practical. The LEO'S just tried to pin on as much as they could...
Anyway.. 20+ years later... It was still showing up as a felony charge when I applied for a TWIC card.
Had to call the court district in my county and get a record showing I was only convicted of a misdemeanor.
Just call the "district court/county clerk" for where ever it happend (some states have different names for it) and ask for your records, and thensend them to whoever needs it.
I think you can get past it.Bean Jr., x1Heavy, dwells40 and 1 other person Thank this. -
I sure hope so because otherwise I am wasting my time going to get my CDLskellr Thanks this.

A lot of smaller companies, or even locals, don't bother with the petty stuff. So it's not lost hope.
On another note. Might be worth applying for expungement if it's possible. You didn't list your crime. And it's not our business. But definitely worth looking in to.
In my state. The process involves $10 and fingerprints submitted. 30 days later you get a letter saying yay or nay. It goes in to detail of what can and can't and the process involved if it's a yay.
Altogether the process cost $75. No lawyer needed. Just time on your part.
It's been a few years since I did it. The cost may have gone up.x1Heavy Thanks this. -
I live in Texas and it’s a felony. Suffice to say, Texas is not expunging any felonies, at least not that I’ve heard.
The whole thing is really frustrating because I was talking to a smaller company earlier (Bulkley Trucking) and the HR Rep with whom I spoke, she basically sounded like she was willing to extend a job offer contingent upon me earning my CDL. She said she had to run my MVR and so long as that came back with what I declared, then everything is cool. Well, now I’ve got to wait for her to talk to her boss. I tried explaining how the information she is reading is not accurate, but how can she really take my word for it over her trusted source? Maybe this company will give me a shot anyway.
As far as smaller companies not running backgrounds...Dallas, TX...every company that is worth anything runs a background now. Thank you for the feedback. -
I don't know about texas.
I did 7 years otr with 3 local companies. Before that, I worked for 3 construction companies driving dump trucks. The last 4 years are back to 1 local tanker company.
All pay good. None looked at my background.WakeUpTheEchoes Thanks this.
