Been reading and posting here for a few weeks before I finally read the whole list of forums. I'm 68 and have a CLP and am trying to get on with Millis or failing that with FFE. Both will pay for school and pay while training. Also considering just paying for it myself and then see what comes up. Sort of short on time so will make my choice as to company this week.
Wife's on board with my being gone for a couple weeks at a time. I'm questioning my sanity but that's nothing new.

So, just stopped in to say hi.

    Greetings!

My $.02, pay for your training upfront if possible. That way you are indentured to no company, and it keeps your options wide open. You never know when the job of your dreams, based right in your hometown, could drop in your lap.

You can't snag a gig like that if you're trying to pay off a mega.

    Good luck!

I grew up in northern Minnesota. Snow means cold. "Go outside and play" meant feet and hands so cold they hurt while getting cold and warming up. As an adult it was just more of the same. Dressing appropriately means sweating if you're active. The chance of dying because of the cold and snow is a real danger.

A lot of drinking goes on as a way to pass the time while you're inside staying warm or trying to warm up after being outside "playing" in the snow.

If this is what some people like more power to ya. For me I've found a home here in Tx. I played golf yesterday. Not something I would do in Mn right now.

This is why I hate snow.

I've talked with a few companies that pay for school that say they don't jack up the price if you leave early or get fired. A friend of mine who was wealthy (unfortunately died way to early) taught me to conserve capital and use other people's money. If the contract actually says what the recruiter is claiming then I have no problem with paying them off to take a better position.

    This isn't my first rodeo.

I moved to southern Nevada for some of the same reasons you moved to Texas probably.
Went out last night and didn't even need a jacket.

I find most intelligent people will make adjustments to their lives that benefit themselves and not just live somewhere or do a job just because (insert reason here)
