I am recently enrolled in a school, about halfway through the program. They want us to fill out 3 apps a week to various trucking companies to get a pre-hire before i finsh with school. My question(s):

What trucking companies should i avoid?
Are there any good companies that hire right out of school that i should apply to?

Thus far, i have applied to Werner, TMC, Roehl, Stevens Transport, USA Truck, Transport America, Swift, a few others that i forget.

I just want to make a good choice of a company to drive for without being "roped" in by some recruiter's propaganda.

Thanks and y'all be safe out there.

    Later.

thanks for the input...... i been researching the crap out of different trucking companies before i even enrolled in school. Roehl was my top pick from the get-go thus far. wasn't sure about TMC. as far as flatbedding, don't think it would bother me so much. I just look at it like this; if it is a flatbed job, there is no way i will be hand loading/ unloading cargo, and tarping can't be all that bad. Hell after volunteering at the local rescue squad here, i'm used to the use of tarps for alot of things...... dunno, we'll see. the only prehire i have so far is werner, and i didn't really want to work for them anywho, just filled out the app to meet the requirements of the school. If worse comes to worse and i don't get another company interested in me, i'll just hang in there and get some seat time with them until i can get the xp other companies are looking for.

Well you have everything from van, reefer and flatbed in your applications. I guess the first thing you should do is ask yourself what you're interested in. With freight down, the area impacted the least is reefer. People are still eating and that's not gonna change.

I'm not sure if you looked at Prime yet, but I hope you do. They have the best training and training pay out there. If you have any questions, feel free to ask.

Good luck with your new career.
