There must be different versions of mx13 over the years right? I've been told 2017 and up is best but why?? I'm looking at a 2017 kw t680 or Pete 579 with mx because I've heard 7 to 7.5 mpg is easy. which year should I get? why are early ones bad?
mx13

2017 model year truck could be EPA13 or EPA17 engine. The first year of the EPA17 was hit or miss with leaky valve stem seals. EPA10 Paccars or any emissions engine prior 2014 is garbage.
QUALITYTRUCK and pushbroom Thank this. -
I've seen one with 198k miles for 64k. I'm thinking it should be alright, right? 7 plus mpg I assume and even tho not as reliable as cummins but I will take good care of it. what do you think? I've found an investor that will provide me a line of credit for emergencies too.

Yes, skip the EPA10. Not what it should be.

The new ones seem to be pretty bulletproof. The biggest issue is finding non-dealer support for them my local dealer has treated me very well, so far, but not all dealers are similarly old school.
The second issue is related to the first: should you wish to delete the engine, choices get very few.spsauerland Thanks this.
