This is a good detailed answer. Exactly right.Basically gotta get the radiator elevated "higher" than the heater core and the top of the engine.

 

I still think you have a bad cap. I’ve had air pockets after refilling, plenty of times. Never taking more than a few hrs. To work out. Usually there’s a petcock on the highest point. Usually top radiator tube. Between thermostat and radiator. Running it with cap loose, vent open usually does the trick, but can take a long time. The air pockets should work themselves out, while running with everything tightened up, eventually. As they do, you’ll need to add coolant. But you have to have a good cap. It needs to vent itself when it cools down. Radiator caps work both ways not just one.I just filled mine a few days ago, it took 2 hrs, to top it good, at an idle. Never did get any coolant out of the bleeder. The few remaking pockets will work themselves out through the cap.Under pressure. Next time I check it after running a bit, it will be fine. Top it one last time. Once it’s right. I should never have to add any, if so there’s a problem somewhere.
