This is a good detailed answer. Exactly right.Basically gotta get the radiator elevated "higher" than the heater core and the top of the engine.

Thank you. I did not ignore your response. I can't do this. Beacuse of a mitigating factor. But can I make up the lack of boards. By parking up hill or on a curb? I only have 9 days left in the truck.
Than taking three months leave. So the boss is trying to keep it rolling.
    I do appreciate everything, thanks

I still think you have a bad cap. I’ve had air pockets after refilling, plenty of times. Never taking more than a few hrs. To work out. Usually there’s a petcock on the highest point. Usually top radiator tube. Between thermostat and radiator. Running it with cap loose, vent open usually does the trick, but can take a long time. The air pockets should work themselves out, while running with everything tightened up, eventually. As they do, you’ll need to add coolant. But you have to have a good cap. It needs to vent itself when it cools down. Radiator caps work both ways not just one.I just filled mine a few days ago, it took 2 hrs, to top it good, at an idle. Never did get any coolant out of the bleeder. The few remaking pockets will work themselves out through the cap.Under pressure. Next time I check it after running a bit, it will be fine. Top it one last time. Once it’s right. I should never have to add any, if so there’s a problem somewhere.

curbing might do, if it is high enough, it's just a matter of how high, compared to say, driving up several layers of boards.

try it, got nothing to lose.

Thanks , I can buy the cap. He will reimburse me. I just have not place to put the boards. Do I ask for a special cap. Or just buy a new one and not tighten it all the way down?

    good Sunday morning drivers.
I'm going to open up the raitator. Now and fill it to the cold full line. The truck has not been started yet this morning.
Then I'm going to loosely. Put the cap back on and fire up the truck and bring it to temp. As ive mentioned in other post. My boss really does take care of this truck. Ill tell him. Its in the trucks best interest to do the boards and buy a cap. What I'm guessing he will do is. Bring me in. Have me idle ( on the boards) while I'm sleeping and check it the next morning. But I will get a new cap on Tuesday and will update on Wednesday. Thanks again!

I asked this same question in the past. Short answer is you want to tighten it like any other normal cap.

Tightness on Cap on Side of Coolant Reservoir?
