Crossing into the Canadian World with a CMV

DUI and felonies disqualify you. DUI is a felony in Canada.

If you take those loads going in you will likely be bouncing back out empty so take that into consideration on the rate.

 

and you have to have a passport nowadays

 

I know of people that have been arrested for assault and battery. Not convicted. Just arrested.

DUI anywhere in the past.

 

see that's what I've always been told but I swear Landstar told me i was good to go. my dui is 15 years old or more and it's not on my driving record anymore

 

Unless as stated in other posts, crossing into Canada isn't a big deal as long as you don't have felonies on your record. Getting back into the good ol' USA can, at times be challenging for the most law abiding citizen.

 

I know a guy who was denied entrance because of a dui when he was 23 years old.

He is now 63.

 

The question is what report are they running? or is it self admission?

Some states DUI's have always been criminal charges, other states it is a Motor vehicle violation.

So the big Q is what is checked at the border?

 

I do not know what the report is. My first time crossing commercially, it took 45 minutes for the background check to allow me to enter.
