Hey guys I'm new to this site, I'm an experienced driver about 10 years, have never hit anything. I just hit a yellow pole cause to be honest I didn't see it. What is going to happen when I tell my company that, any advice or heads-up.

Well, I have to tell my company... Lol... It tore the plastic ### corner of the bumper off, it is a good bit of damage, I'm worried that they will fire me, but who knows, I'm just wondering the protocol they will follow with me, classes, suspension, withholding pay?
Aamcotrans and sevenmph Thank this. -
Flat Earth Trucker, sevenmph, flood and 4 others Thank this.

It will depend on your company. Don't delay in telling them about it. Use this as a learning experience. That pole could have been a person.

Ok, one more question, lol... I've read into this issue a little bit, this would be considered an incident rather than an accident. Or am I wrong?

If Pole broke truck, accident = preventable. Even Truckers lose virginity being roughly handled for scrapes minor. //snarky.
Don't worry, you will pay one way or another. In my day if I punched a tire I bought a new one cash and told the boss man that he has a new tire from me. That way he keeps up the maintenance file on the truck.
If pole is not broken then nothing bad happened.
What you do not want to do is conceal, hide or camoflage something that happened with your moving the truck into a yellow pole and breaking something on truck.
Heck one time I busted the nuts on the doors and satelitted that in and the dispatcher made a order to get a man out there with new bolts inside of a hour. It's minor. Now if he wanted to know the entire situation... well thats another story all together. Just be happy it's just a bunch of bolts.bzinger, Trucker61016 and Ktanner683 Thank this. -
