Looking for some help, trying to find insurance to start authority.
Located in Massachusetts
Progressive will quote it but it’s very highly
Local agent is trying to get my quotes but so far the cheapest has been 20k for the truck, 2800 liability and another 20j for cargo.
I haven’t called ooida yet as I’ve read they don’t work with some brokers
Contacted northland waiting to hear back. anyone have any other suggestions on companies I can look into? There’s tons of companies but most wont work with me, because as usual the state is greedy and lame.
Thanks
Insurance

OOIDA was the cheapest for me. And it's true there are some who won't work with them. The biggest problem is the new rule change they have. New authorities covered by them can no longer hire a driver for your own truck unless you have been with them for 2 years. You can lease on an owner operator if he meets their requirements . Progressive was a little higher priced. My insurance agent said Berkshire Hathaway was so expensive not to bother. New authorities have some very limited options. Good luck.

Seems OOIDA loses out with a rule like that.

Just got a quote back from a local agent. Liability, cargo and auto comes out to 25,000 for the year. Does that seem reasonable?
I have a few other places I am waiting on quotes for. seems to be right in line with what I was expecting. After the first few years it should hopefully go down. -
somehow that seems very unreasonable

Holy moly. Are you planning to run national wide or just local? It's a lot cheaper if you only run a 150-200 mile radius.
