Tom doesn't have one. Not sure what your point was. Jason did better with his Cobra 29 and Kenworth W900 and 4 foot firestik as opposed to Tom's Stryker 955 and Freightliner Cascadia with 102" stainless whip. Certain vehicle/antenna combinations require less wattage to make the same trip.
Even with more power and a better antenna, Tom couldn't duplicate what Jason did. It just goes to show the Cascadia really does suck.

I saw the Anytone AT-6666 in your post. I thought perhaps readers would want to know more about that radio

I thought it was more interesting how a Cobra 29 in a Kenworth W 900 with a 4' Firestik outperformed a Stryker 955 in a Freightliner Cascadia with a 102" stainless whip. It just goes to show that the type of vehicle and the antenna mounting location on that vehicle drastically affect the performance of the radio.

I assumed Tim’s point was, that you talked a little over 40 miles using a 60 watt radio.

    rabbiporkchop and Timin770 Thank this.

Heard some guy yakin' on his big radio once. Said whenever he could park close enough to a body of water, he had this chain connected to his truck that he'd throw the other end in the water...swore he could talk to outer space...

Yeah we had a guy here that made the same claim, he would go on rants about aliens he talks to and one night he just vanished, his family looked for him for years, never did find him. That was the night in the 80’s we had a glowing night time sky, people were panicking and a few disappeared that night.

I'm sure that was his point. The only problem is it muddies the waters and confuses people by deflecting attention from the fact somebody did the same thing with a Cobra 29 and a 4' Firestik antenna. Every conversation is a 2 way street. It takes 2 radios to have a conversation. If we ignore the smallest radio participating in a conversation and give all the credit for the conversation to the largest radio it's intellectually dishonest to say the least.
Unless of course if we are referring to the times where I was running an amplifier and talking to a barefoot Cobra 29 from 30 miles away when I was over the road in which case my amplifier did most of the work reaching back to the other guy with the barefoot Cobra 29. There's virtually no difference between a 4 Watt carrier and a 20 watt carrier. If you multiply the power times 10 that's when you start to notice a difference.
