I got a CEL a couple weeks back. NOX sensor (pic below)
I was on the road so I reset it a few times with the OTR reset tool. It would stay off for a day or so then come back on. Same code.
This weekend I replaced the inlet NOX sensor and had DPF and DOC cleaned as well. I did not go to a Volvo dealer for this.
After replacement my CEL is still on but no longer shows any faults. My reset tool will no longer turn the CEL off. I checked all modules, no active faults anywhere.
Will it eventually go off or does it have a hard code locked up in it somewhere that I can’t see without dealer software?
Bellow is the original DTC. to be clear, it is now cleared but CEL is still on.

would it be bad to run with a 1 box outlet nox sensor fault for too long? Is that something that will cause derate eventually?
SPN 520365 FMI 5 and SPN 3238 FMI 2, looks like two different versions of the same fault, no communication from outlet nox sensor
SPN 3238 FMI 2 (old)

Yes it will cause a derate. Consider yourself fortunate that your truck showed an issue that wants to be addressed before it gets worse. Take care of it. Now.
