    Not meaning to be difficult. I also tell drivers to stay on the loop. However most of my driving career I drove all over Atlanta inside the loop. I had a terminal on the east side and drove on I 20 across downtown and got off the main exit onto a local street. I never had any issues. It's been almost 8 years now since I last drove or lived there. I do know the fines can be serious. I have more to add to this but choose to place it behind a spoiler button to save space.

    I am also going to use this comment to show how Georgia Cops can trap a driver using O.C.G.A. Section 40-6-51 I can't link any of this because my access to Georgia code is behind a paywall, but I am sure can be confirmed. Take note of what I have made bold and that word ((and))! You will never see this on the signs. I have seen local court judges find drivers of less than 6 wheels guilty of this. KEEP this in mind if you are in most any CMV in the Atlanta metro area.

    O.C.G.A 40-6-51
    (a) (1) Any motor vehicle with more than six wheels and commercial motor vehicles as defined by Code Section 40-1-1 shall not travel on any portions of Interstates 20, 75, 85 or Georgia Highway 400 that are located within the arc of Interstate 285 unless the driver of such motor vehicle is:
    (A) Engaging in a pick up or delivery to or from a shipper located inside the arc of Interstate 285;
    (B) Traveling to or from such motor vehicle's terminal facility located inside the arc of Interstate 285;
    (C) Traveling to or from a repair facility located inside the arc of Interstate 285 for service; or
    (D) Traveling to or from his or her residence which is located inside the arc of Interstate 285.
    (2) The Department of Transportation by order and local authorities by ordinance may regulate or prohibit the use of any controlled-access roadway within their respective jurisdictions by any class of vehicle or kind of traffic which is found to be incompatible with the normal and safe movement of traffic.
    (b) The Department of Transportation or the local authority adopting any such prohibition shall erect and maintain official traffic-control devices on the controlled-access highway on which such prohibitions are applicable, and when such devices are in place no person shall disobey the restrictions stated thereon.
    (c) For purposes of this Code section, roadways within the jurisdiction of the Department of Transportation and roadways within the jurisdiction of local authorities shall be as set forth in Code Section 32-4-1.
    (d) A driver of a motor vehicle failing to comply with the requirements of subsection (a) of this Code section shall be fined $150.00. A driver of a motor vehicle failing to comply with subsection (a) of this Code section during a declared state of emergency for inclement weather conditions shall be fined $1,000.00.

    O.C.G.A. 40-1-1
    (A) Has a gross vehicle weight rating, gross combination weight rating, gross vehicle weight, or gross combination weight of 4,536 kg (10,001 lbs.) or more;
    (B) Is designed or used to transport more than eight passengers, including the driver, for compensation;
    (C) Is designed or used to transport more than 15 passengers, including the driver, and is not used to transport passengers for compensation; or
    (D) Is used to transport material determined to be hazardous by the secretary of the United States Department of Transportation under 49 U.S.C. Section 5103 and transported in a quantity that requires placards under regulations prescribed under 49 C.F.R., Subtitle B, Chapter I, Subchapter C.

    Honestly, I was just trying to go down the same vein you had. Moral of the story is it's real easy to get into trouble, and real hard to get out once you're in

    I'm with you totally. I just wanted to use your comment to point out that quark in Georgia law, and show drivers to avoid getting pissy with DOT cops once stopped inside that dang loop. I have not run the code, but I also suspect that the same definition applies to stay out of that far left lane.

    No..

    Anymore all you need to do is push the D button and follow a GPS. You don’t even need to speak English. Look around you, how hard can it be, the mega fleets have made it so anyone can drive a truck.. :thumbup:

    I agree with backing/lifestyle/driving at night. Backing definitely comes with time and there will probably still be times you can’t do it perfectly for one reason or another. I’m pretty good these days at backing, but once recently I screwed one up and someone jumped on the CB and said “Dang stretch, I’ve never seen you get twisted up!”

    So in other words if you get a good amount of experience people aren’t going to judge you for one little mistake... BUT if you make a major screw up or have a few screw ups right out of the gate you’ll probably get a funny CB handle out of it at the very least.
