Dealer is saying the actuator is seized. So cannot be removed and replaced. Instead I have to replace whole turbo $3800 plus labor at $145 an hour.

Also says truck has small exhaust manifold leak. Suggest replace now $929 for part plus labor.

Total bill after nuts, bolts clamps, etc. Is $7800

I'm thinking do the manifold at a later date at a non dealer. Probably save at least an hours labor and hundreds on the part.

    Thoughts?

They tell me the code it is shooting is for VGT turbo actuator. Also saying since it is seized they cannot repair or replace. Must replace with complete turbo "kit"

Would take a lot longer to replace the manifold by itself than to just have them do it while the turbo is of
Yes thy come as a kit, I would have them do the manifold to, More than likely the can get to it easier with the turbo already off.

One other thing , when you suggest going to another shop later, Did you figure in your time for that. I mean how much more time and effort are you going to need to get the truck rescheduled and the time and effort to get it in just to possibly maybe save on some shop time now.

I agree, that's just wasted money and labor doing it twice.
