I drape the chain across my fore arms and hold the hooks, 2 at a time, id rather throw chains than straps

We've been over this scores of times on this site, the regs so not require you to go through the rub rail.

Despite what your swift/melton/tmc trainer brainwashed you to think hooking to a rub rail is not illegal. And while we are at it, neither is running your strap outside the rub rail.

Maybe it’s hard to have a discussion about regulations when you don’t actually know the regulations?
This load was put out of service during a level 2 inspection in Arkansas because one of the 8 straps was one notch loose. That crate only weighed 800 pounds, according to the paperwork, so the 7 other straps were plenty to hold the crate. That officer was just being very anal about securement and said ZERO about the straps and the hooks being outside the rails, because it’s perfectly legal.

You may also want to look into what you’re saying about the various levels of inspections. What you said makes no sense.

No you didn't, I mentioned it because it is another commonly claimed thing to be illegal.

What handbook are you referring to? The one published by jj keller fir the big fleets to hand out to their fresh out of school drivers?
Instead of relying on some 3rd party handbook why not read the actual regulations and see what they say?
