I’d have them clean out the system. See if it holds air then before removing the Trans.
Be Safe Out There

Remember when floors came out of the truck and you could work on a trans without removing it?

Tsk. Its a very nice description though. Bill is typical almost 6 grand. And still things to chase.

Yeah when it's cold out it take the truck forever to build air. And it is always stuck on the high side of the transmission. No matter where you have the range selector. But if you have it on the high side you can hear air coming from the shifter itself. But if you drive a while she will finally go to the low side air will start to build normally and shoot off. And the truck drives fine. I changed the air dryer cartridge myself cleaned it real good. It seemed to be the original one the truck was produced with. I drain my tanks daily. I see a small amount of mist when I first open the valves and then that is it.
The thing that is throwing me is the fact that they are saying it is water on the top plate of the transmission that is freezing But if it was water on the top plate wouldn't water be in the transmission itself?x1Heavy Thanks this. -
If I remember my temperatures, a transmission and axles operating at 210 or higher when working hard would boil that water away in a hurry.

The top plate just houses the air valves for range selection and such. Generally they can just take that off without removing the trans.
Looks like the previous owner didn't drain the air system that often. If they find rust, have then check the DEF dossing valve as well.flood and Dave_in_AZ Thank this. -
WINNER!!!!!
Who had the truck for the first 600K. That counts for a lot.mhyn Thanks this.
