Today I saw an amazon day cab pulling a UPS trailer. Whats's up with that? Why would the teamsters allow a non-union company to move one of their trailers???

The same reason they allow Schneider, Swift and many others to pull their trailers, it is part of the contract for trailer interchange. They have built in a percentage of their loads that can be hauled by outside carriers, non-union, especially around the holidays.
Also, UPS Freight has a non-union side for truckload, so they don't even keep their entire business union and the Teamsters allow that to happen. -
I know at peak freight time they will sub out work. I dont think this is that situation tho. Im thinking this is an amazon daycab pulling a ups trailer from one of their terminals to a drop yard, or vice versa? Its taking hours out of ups drivers pockets. Latest contract also made it harder for ups to sub out the work like they had been doing.brian991219 Thanks this.

Could be that Amazon just doesn't care about who's trailer it is. They have been in the news before for using trailers they didn't own or have a right to use for shipping their products. I even remember Land Line Now covering a story about Amazon holding an owner operator's trailer for a month or so to use it for their own fleet. Or maybe it was a shuttle between two local Amazon facilities? Not sure.Mike2633, BigDog Trucker and kemosabi49 Thank this.

i pull a swift trailer with my walmart truck sometimes. pays the same. i always pull into the pilot or the ta. go in side, cause i know people are going to tell me. I heard swift bought you guys out. they have bought us out 100,000,000 times. lol. keeps me going everyday

trust me they can hold a trailer, a while back I saw them tell a driver his trailer will be held for I think was 72 hours or more, I wrote about it last year. Once you drop the trailer in their yard they can care less.
As far as the ups trailer, ups delivers and picks up at their DC’s, I’ve seen many of them when I get a load into one of their DC’s. -
Amazon is the modern day equivalent of working for the coal mine. Soon theyre gonna pay their people in amazon money and make them live in amazon towns.Mike2633 Thanks this.
