I’ve been through 3 sets of nozzles in 200k miles. Two sets were cat reman and the third set is McBee reman, all the nozzle bodies have cat logo/numbers. Full injector pump/timing advance/AFRC/transfer pump overhaul 200k miles ago.
What other than the faulty reman process causes pencil nozzles to fail? It’s a 3zj51437 with 16.4 pistons per the serial number, cat/garret 75 turbo with 23psi boost, engine runs great very smooth until one day it will develop a miss, all three times I’ve put six nozzles in and that made it run smooth again. Does transfer pump pressure have an impact? My electric fuel pressure gauge will arrive Thursday so won’t know fuel pressure til then

Been there, done that. Yes fuel pressure can cause some weird sounds but I think it is just lousy remand quality. I have a pop tester and can fumble through using it. I had 4 bad romans out of 6 at 55k on my 3zj. Replaced with new Cat and runs better at 90k miles than the remains did on day 1. Or8785 vs 7w7031. Can't remember but I think it is 15.6:1? (last Cat kit before they switched to all steel tops) or6051 turbo ~34lbs boost.

Thanks for the info, are you on the “other” site too? Can’t get anywhere over there anymore lol. I just bought some McBee remans and ate the core in order to keep these cat remans I just took out. The local fuel shop says all six of these cat remans are junk so I took them back to kenworth to exchange them since I bought them in November. They’re sending them to altorfer in elmhurst for their own testing/warranty approval

Yes. Have been a member of the " other site" for yrs. When it got bought out a few years ago the new management just destroyed it for some reason. Still alot of good info there and some not so good. A whole lot more good than bad, though.
Been through the warranty thing on injectors with Cat. After some months they finally sent me 3 of 4 new romans. Which I have never used. Iirc, one of them failed Cat's own 7500 nozzle testing protocol as performed by myself and followed to a t. Only thing i couldnt get my hands on Cat testing solution. So I used what local fi shop uses. A ratio of Lucas fuel and diesel. I have recipe some where.

Cat won’t test the nozzles without two hours labor paid up front, so I’m gonna take them back home and probably use them for cores on another set of remans. They are cat 0r4337’s and now they say my engine should have 0r8243 nozzles in it. The engine currently has McBee reman 0r4337 nozzles in it and it’s already acting up, missing and low on boost 3-4 pounds

Yep, I remember that now that you mention it, I never was reimbursed for the 230 bucks labor I paid up front....
