Part of I-80 is expected to be closed most of the day on Friday due to crashes and weather.

    45 miles of Wyoming I-80 closed due to 'multiple crashes'

    The Wyoming Department of Transportation (WYDOT) says that they’ll keep I-80 between Laramie and Cheyenne closed for most of the day on Friday due to a serious pileup involving several semi trucks.

    On Friday morning, WYDOT announced that they closed both directions of I-80 between Laramie and Cheyenne due to multiple crashes at mile marker 331.

    WYDOT says that several injuries have been reported as a result of the crashes, but it isn’t yet clear how many vehicles are involved.

    At 8 a.m., WYDOT estimated that I-80 could reopen in 10 to 12 hours.

    Winter weather has also shut down eastbound I-80 is closed eastbound between Rock Springs and Rawlins. The estimated opening time for this stretch of I-80 is unknown.

    I-80 between Elk Mountain and Laramie is also closed to light, high profile vehicles due to wind.

    I'd bet that most if not all of those wrecks began in the left lane.

    I don't know how I survived Wyoming,
    Running from Texas to Portland for 7 years straight.
    In the winter time only,when the rates where high.
    I used to be fearless, just plow right through it,
    From one end to the other.

    Now I'm old and scared to death of it.
    I feel my luck is gonna run out and I end up
    Burning alive in one of these multi truck pileups.
    I just stay east of I-35 now all winter long.
    It just ain't worth the money.

    Why is anybody even driving? You cant even see the road!!!!!! Even the smallest amount if snow creates issues in Wyoming because of wind

    80 in Wyoming anymore = inexperience, stupidity , driving to fast for conditions and following to closely.
    To many dummy's in a hurry without commen sence ...I dont run it anymore.

    My husband told me about this a couple of hours ago. He came upon the road closure and turned around and found a truck stop. He is going to leave in the morning if everything is clear.
