Corporate culture. They think it's easier to lie and tell half-truths just to get your face out of their window.
It is easier, too...for awhile. It always comes back to bite you on the ### if you lie to your people.
Also, trying to keep peace by trying to make everyone happy is a lost cause.
I've worked at places like that and eventually you go to work every morning with a knot in the pit of your stomach. It's not worth it.x1Heavy Thanks this. -
Dont even try that. Regardless of what is owed you pay it off and do the honorable thing. These companies have the ability to tarnish your record. You don't want that. You did it, so whatever he asks, work your butt off and knock it outManos_dycan Thanks this.

Thanks, I will do exactly that because I don’t see myself leaving without paying for the damage. I would have to live with the guilt forever if I leave without paying for it.bryan21384 Thanks this.

A lot of years ago I was planning to leave my company. Last week on the job
I had a small incident. The boss was not real happy but xxxx happens. But I felt
real bad.....so I asked what the deductible was and I paid it. Boss was still
not thrilled but he thanked me......said no body ever offered to do that. Funny
thing is he and I stayed friends for quite a few years after that.Manos_dycan Thanks this. -
Thanks
My boss is usually rude! Immediately after the incident, i told his mom who was present at the scene that I would pay for the damage...
to my surprise, my boss never expressed any anger at all. He’s been actually more nice to me after the incident. He tells me he isn’t going to take a lot from me anytime I ask him of how much the damage is going to cost me. -
Guys I work with bend stuff up all the time. They don't pay for the damages. Company does.
Some have been fired. If it was bad like rolling a van over.
Had two hoods torn up. Company paid, employee didn't get fired.Manos_dycan Thanks this. -
Take responsibility.....admit when you mess up.....life goes on. Lie and you will
be fired. Recently my current company fired a driver for a pretty minor incident.....driver
hit a company truck on company property.....several hundred dollars in damage. Happened
first thing in the AM.....company waited till PM....driver never said anything.....he was fired.
Also it was the third event in about sixty days...….Manos_dycan and Badmon Thank this. -
Quit worrying about it. Your Boss obviously isn’t too concerned. Chances are He won’t charge you anything. He wants you to stay. Sounds like a decent Boss. You should realize that, and have the decency to give a notice, when you decide to quit. I doubt you’re the first to make a mistake like that, truth is he shouldn’t be charging You anything. He knows that. Just wants You to be grateful. You should be, He could have fired You. Next place may not be so forgiving. Might want to keep this job. Grass isn’t greener, at all, Not to be harsh, I speak from my own mistakes, and experience. Done worse than that more than once, and quit jobs, that I should have kept. At least you didn’t run the wife over, Lol.

Thanks a lot! Wanted to leave so badly but I decided to be more patient and work with him for a while because he still hasn’t deducted any money from pay since the incident occurred. He definitely deserves a notice whenever I decide to leave and yup, I didn’t run the wife over lol. Have a great day.
