Been trucking since the 80's. I can tell ya for a fact. That tight group, truckers stick together stuff. Is more faulty memory, or only remembering the good. Than it actually was.

 

Right. I got my own in 95, but was loading trucks for the old man since I was big enough to reach the pedals on the loader. So I got to see with my own eyes what the the typical driver was like. It hasn't charged much. There was no more "stuck together" than there is now.

 

The easiest thing to do is getting set up with a good factoring company. They will allow you to negotiate load value instead of days to pay from the broker keeping the load value high on the front end, then advance the money from the load to you when you drop off within the same day typically for around 3%. At that point, they will then also do all of the billing, collecting, and accounts receivable for you.
