You would have a lot better chance of beating it if you received a ticket.

If I were a cop and heard this story and saw the logs that he showed here I would get the feeling that there is no co-driver, only one person running two different apps for the same truck. It makes exactly zero sense for a team to not use the same ELD for the same truck.

I misunderstood when you said two different ELD’s, but I get what you’re saying now about separate log in’s which is how it should be.

The way I understand it, each driver has their own readout device.

The hard wired ones like many of us have require you to log into a device attached to the truck. Ours only shows 8 days, as well, on roadside inspections.

    Dieselboss and PE_T Thank this.

If I had an app-based ELD device, I wouldn’t hand it over to the DOT. I’ll just send him an eRODS. Part of the problem was that the officer accessed information he wasn’t supposed to.

He could not access anything he shouldn't if the ELD is put into inspection mode as it should be.

PE_T and Long FLD Thank this.

I don’t know how the inspection mode works on an app-based ELD device. The Omnitracs device also has an inspection mode, but it’s only to see more log details. The officer can sort through the Omnitracs all he wants, but he will never get past the last 8 days.

Doesn't really matter in the ops case as the op had false logs showing in the last 8 days.

    PE_T Thanks this.

The officer seeing more days made it worse. 8 days of bad logging is bad enough.
