I'm a new driver and Western Express gave me an opportunity to which I'm thankful..... That's it, this company is the absolute worst company I've ever worked for in my 20+ years of work experience. I left a well paying career of 15 years because business slowed down and my income was cut in more then half. I looked into trucking and a couple other careers to which would get me back to what I'd earned or at least close to it. Trucking seemed to be the most flexible and best paying.... I finished school and because of some poor decisions driving in my past Western was the only place to hire me. So to start the recruiter lied to me about what I'd earn. He told me I'd start at $.40 - $.45 cpm, I currently make $.34 cpm, he was supposed to put me in as a flatbed driver which he claimed paid a little more and after the orientation and load securement class I was sent out with a trainer where I learned absolutely nothing but drive straight and sleep no backing nothing else was taught to me. After the 2 weeks of training I was put into a dry van not a flatbed and when I called my recruiter he lied again and said he'd fix it. Two weeks later I hadn't heard anything back so I called him and he told me it's not his problem and hung up. The DM, he's a whole other price of work, he doesn't ever respond to emails and never answers his phone, he scheduled loads for me more often then not that make me late and I end up getting stuck waiting, sometimes for 2-3 days. the only time I can ever get any type of response is from the guys who work at night. The payrole lady who answers the phone is a complete #####, I looked at a paystub in which it appeared I was shorted and she just said no I wasn't and hung up. Basically, if you have to work for this company get your experience and move on as quickly as possible there's nothing good about Western Express in my experience I give this place -10 star rating.....

Id deliver pizzas and mow lawns before I drove for western express.

If you had done any research at all, you would of quickly realized that even if w.e. was your pinky trucking option, it was not an option.

DOCUMENT everything that is a burr under your saddle in writing name names of so and so and what they refuse to fix.

When you accumulate such a damning list, go visit your Operations Manager and show these things to him. QUIETLY. If OM or VP has any power at all he will start stomping those who did not help you within the company totem pole.

No wonder drivers get mad, steam and boom quit. They feel abuse this way fast.

    He said
"because of some poor decisions driving in my past Western was the only place to hire me."
Im guessing that's either a bunch of moving violations or a dui. Either of those and the only trucking company that will even talk to him is western and Carolina cargo. However bad Carolina cargo is, they are an upgrade to western express. At least there they will work him half to death so his paycheck will be almost enough to live on.

Keep notes and records of all conversations. Follow up all phone calls with operations and safety with a free form message in the QC acknowledging and detailing the call.

Screen shot all your load assignments and create a file/folder for them .
Always get the name of every person that you speak with, without fail...especially driver payroll.

You will need all of this info in the future...trust me!

    x1Heavy Thanks this.
