TM I hate to say this, but you have no clue as to how the stock market works or the history of Werner stock. The average price of Werner stock over the past three years has been around $15-18, with a high, just before the stock market dropped around $28. That was only for a VERY VERY short time. The low in the past 12 months has been around $12. Greg sold his stock for $17.85 around the AVERAGE price of WERN stock. So he DID NOT sell it when it is at an all time low. Also if you look up SEC filings, you will see that Greg sells a lot of stock.. and there is a reason he's no longer on the board of directors....
Additionally, when you SELL stock, it puts MORE stock on the market to sell, thus the price DROPS not RAISES.
EDIT: I went back and looked at the July SECs for Werner. This should open your eyes a bit. Remember kids, Werner Cares!
John Story BOUGHT 151.639 shares at various prices then SOLD 200 shares on 07/28
Gary Werner BOUGHT 70000 shares for $7.725 then SOLD 70000 shares for $17.8893 on 07/28 for a profit of over $700,000.
Greg Werner BOUGHT 75000 shares for $7.725 then SOLD 75000 shares for $17.868 on 07/28 for a profit of over $760,000.
John Steele BOUGHT 13334 shares for $7.35 then SOLD 13334 for shares for $17.8482 on 07/27 for a profit of nearly $140,000.
Any questions? SOURCE: http://www.nasdaq.com/asp/quotes_sec.asp?symbol=WERN&selected=WERNLast edited: Aug 16, 2009

Well, Highlander has told me that he is gonna tie up a dealership. He got a load in Phoenix out of Dallas, picking up an empty along the way. He picked up the load in Phoenix, drove 18 miles loaded, made a turn from the 101 loop to NWB US 60 and heard a pop. He blew an air valve making the turn, so he sat along side US 60 for about two hours.
Additionally, here, as of this moment, is everything that is operationally wrong with the truck.
- Grinding from the differentials/rear axles.
- The automatic 8-9th does not work. He has no 8th even in manual. So going up for example, a 7% grade because it wont shift into 8th means he has to wait until the right RPMS so he can hit 7th.
- The A/C is stuck in the on position so climbing up Parlay Summit during the dead of summer will be an adventure in an overheated engine.
- The APU unit runs while the truck is running, which if he did not manually it shut off, would overcharge the batteries and more than likely blow out the hoses.
- The #### thing is due for its 5,000 gallons service........................... why couldn't the #### terminal do this before they assigned it?
Need I say more? And the Freightliner dealership here is notoriously SLOW which means, he will probably be off the road for at least 4 days. The adventure continues.........................
Additionally one point I think I may not have emphasized in my original post, is that Highlander is a stockholder in Werner. In fact he holds more stock than many at Werner. Remember, Highlander is not only a veteran driver for Werner, dedicating 18 years of his life to them, but also a STOCKHOLDER in Werner. He owns part of the company, per say, and his concerns are obviously not important to Greg. If he remains at Werner, he has told me he's thinking about attending the next stockholders meeting in Omaha. If he does not stay at Werner, he has said he is dumping his stock in Werner as soon as he legally can. And he has stopped buying stock in Werner.
Just as a reminder, these posts are my opinion and my opinion only. Since I am not related to ANYONE who works for Werner, I am not bound by any of Werners Employee Policies regarding the posting of pictures or opinions.
Yes we live in sin. Why do we need a piece of paper to tells us how we feel about each other!
Highlander says thanks to everyone for their support.

Since you have been driving for only 1 year, I'm not going to take the time to explain it to you. Once you spend 18 years with the same company, dedicating most of your adult life to a company, entirely accident free during the time, and a stockholder with the same company, then you will have the right to question his opinion.
And that comment is coming directly from Highlander.
Sorry to be rude, but your comment is rude and inappropriate. -
If I drove for a company for as long as Highlander, and was given the keys to such a piece of crap truck as this when I know the company has new trucks coming in every month or so, that would be the last day the company enjoyed my services as a driver. But I always go for the soul-satisfying answer over the intelligent answer. Maybe I have an attitude problem? Nahh... Good on Highlander for trying to handle this like a true professional. -
Highlander says, "How DARE you insult me calling me a true professional! Maybe a professional nut, a professional pain in the butt, a professional loose nut behind the wheel, a professional masocist for staying with Werner as long as I have, but a professional! THEMS FIGHTING WORDS!"

I think this is one of the programs that this is referring to.Beechvtail said: ↑Does anyone have proof of this statement? I would like to see it offline if you do.
Highlander if you are reading this I am truly disappointed with this company and it appears they are going under. I wish you the best and hope for better days ahead.Click to expand...
This federal program through the Department of Labor is called the "Registered Apprenticeship" program. With this program, companies that participate are eligible for tax benefits and workforce development grants. Werner is listed among one of these companies.

Two things, every once in a while we all get assigned crappy trucks. It happened to me and my husband on our second truck, our first was a very old 379 our second was a newer 379 that some did idiot had been involved in a side impact accident in damaging the front fender, the front round mirror, the driver door, which had to be replaced, and screwed the hood up so it could not be shut without a great deal of work. In fact, that truck is the truck in my signature which you can see the damage on if you look. Oh well, if it runs thats all that matters. Sure we were pissed, sure we tried to get reassigned, we we are team my husband has the same safety record though with a different company and no accidents at all and no tickets, no luck oh well.
The check thing is silly, Werner has LONG ago stopped issuing checks, at least 2 months after I started working there they stopped issuing checks period. They instead place your money on an ESF card if you do not have a direct deposit set up. This ESF card is free, and retrieving your money from it is free after payday. Ask payroll if you don't believe me.
