As long as you learned your lesson, no worries. People that learn from their mistakes are safer then those who never made mistakes at all, I say.

I was kind of tilting your way until I saw you other postings and where you're not telling the whole story. You've got 3 DUI's and 10 years in between the second and third. You're not a good driver since you've had three. Plus that's not counting what your not telling us so yea I'm one of those old truckers that say you have no business in a truck.

Well, the things i didnt mention are personal matters not related to driving, drinking or drugs. As for not being a good driver,i have never had a wreck in any type of vehicle.I drove straight trucks in the military, dump trucks, ten speed u-hauls and so on.I also have 80 logged hrs. in a kenworth with no problems, and a 93.7 grade point average through school. So how do you know im not a good driver if you never saw me drive?Leave the past where it belongs,in the past.Life goes on, people change, and i have to make a living doing what i think i might be good at.My opinion of myself and knowing what i can accomplish is the only thing that matters.Maybe if you knew me instead stating your opinion on what you read you might change your mind.People Do Change.

People change, but insurance companies don't. None of what you mentioned means anything to trucking or insurance companies, especially in an environment with a surplus of clean-record drivers. The past is in the past, but it does follow you. Sucks, but that's life. And if you wan't to be a driver, it's the opinion of trucking companies that counts, not your own, unless you employ yourself.

I was a Magna CumLaude when I received my Bachelor of Science degree at the University of Maryland. So that makes me a safer, non-drinking driver?

Thats true, but my record shows only a ten year old dui and a dismissed traffic ticket two years ago.Im told the insurance company can live with that.

Three DUI's? That's how he knows! It shows a history of poor judgement and disregard for others on the road. As far as leaving the past in the past...It's not that easy. We all must carry the burden of the stupid things that we have done.

Your opinion of what you "might" be good at is irrelevant! Do you think that you're entitled to a job in this industry? Look again...There are guys infinetly more qualified and capable than you that are having a hard time getting a job in the industry right now because of things from the past that are far less serious han 3 DUI's.

    Really? Are you f**kin' serious?

You sound like a typical victim of public education with more emphasis on self esteem than actually knowing anything! I'm happy for you that you feel so good about yourself but that'll get you nowhere in the real world.

That "MIGHT" be true but let's assume for the sake of this conversation that we don't know you any better than any of the safety dept. guys that'll be reviewing your record when you are being considered for employment.

I'd take one look at that record and toss it in the shredder and move on to the next applicant.

If you're hearing that from a recruiter, be wary, be very wary...

Well i personaly know a driver that had 5 traffic tickets ranging from diregarding a stop sign to speeding to running a red light and is on FELONY probation for drug position.I wont mention the co. he drives for but they are a reputibal co.The same one im going to.So your opinions really dont matter do they? The only one that matters is the insurance co., and mine. And if youve been a trucker for 36 years maybe its time your old ### got off the road

Yea take the 36 years of experience off the road and put a driver that's had 3 DUI's out there. If that makes sense to you you're nuts. Sorry for the plan simple truth but you are at the bottom of barrel.

Let me set this record straight.Yes, i was charged with a dui in 1988 and 1 in 1989.But what you need to know is that here in my county, the records dept. hired temps to come in and shredd some files. They shredded the wrong files,20,000 of them. When they tried to remake them things got added that were not suppossed to be there. My lawyer had company ceo,s that wound up with a record. He had 18 cases of record expungments over this screw-up.Those dui,s i never earned, except the one in 1999.Guilty. thats why i dont drink.I guess i should have made that clear from the start.I ONLY HAVE 1 DUI AND 1 DISMISSED SPEEDING TICKET ON MY STATE RECORD.MY COUNTY RECORD IS CLEAN.Sorry for my last statement,im a little ticked over this whole ordeal. But for the record 1 dui 1 ticket.
