I want to preface this with; I’ve searched far and wide, usually I can just type a code in google and have it narrowed down within 10 mins.

This morning I started the truck up and while getting dressed, it just shut off. The dash had a CEL and red stop engine light, code read Eng 0, SPN 502 3, Fail 9. I cycled the ignition and restarted with no codes and runs fine. I’m grateful for that, however, I don’t like mysteries, if this is a failing part I prefer to replace it now rather later. Hoping you guys can educate me on this code.

Fare collection unit. Probably just a phantom code. Unless you’re driving a bus.

    9Ether Thanks this.

Saw 5023 fmi 9 on Detroit forums on a Western Star 5700. It’s also unknown over there.

You’re serious? That’s crazy, where’d you find that?

ive never experienced anything like that, so these dd15’s sometimes throw random codes that aren’t indicative to anything?

502 was fare collection unit, 5023 is unknown.
I get random ones on my ScanGauge, only ever had one phantom code on the dash. Could be early warning of water leaking on the SAM cab module if you have a Cascadia or 5700. The connectors get corroded.

Update In case anyone else came across this code, it’s a OnGuard system code for the radar, in my case I turn the whole system off so it throws that code. The code I missed was SPN 111, coolant level sensor is what shut the truck down with a CEL.

I have a 2018 cascadia and it's throwing a code right now once's radar one active fault the other one you click on it it says sa 180 and then click on that it's a diagnostic code SPN 5681 FMI 9. Then you click on the other fault code which it says radar and that comes up SPN 5023 FMI 9 .and it says radar.its the on guard crash mitigation system. I have unplugged the plug from the back of the display unit that's on the dash that turns green blue and beeps all the time, but still kicking on the brakes when I go under bridges and stuff. it was driving me crazy. please advise me how to actually disable it. It does not shut off if you hold the two arrow buttons and shut the truck off and hold them down and turn it on so please advise how I shut this thing off so it stops jamming on the brakes for no reason
