Anyone on here had experience with SelecTrucks warranty?
    I'm in the process of buying a 2016 Cascadia with DD13, 10spd, 350k miles.
The truck comes with 1y/100,000 miles warranty on internally lubricated parts only. They offer 2 years / 200,000 miles warranty for $10,000 that covers injectors, turbo and aftertritment.
I think that's too much, but do understand that s__t happens.
I myself am a good back yard mechanic and do understand how modern engines work. My plan is to invest in DDDL software with Nexiq interface for about $1000 and save the 9 grand.
What do you experienced drivers think?

I think those warranties are mostly crap. Thy can deny any claim just because and what are you going to do about it. And even if thy do happen to cover it how long is it going to take to get it fixed under there plan. Save your money and just invest it in a good maintenance program.

5 car Sun Country. Mostly light 20-25k.
Trucks with dd13 are about 5k cheaper than dd15 as most go for the bigger engine. Reliability wise they look about the same.

That’s what I’m thinking. $10,000 will buy a lot of parts.

I’m not a believer in extended warranties, unless it’s an extension of the original, factory warranty on a new car. On these new Trucks, an strong argument can be made. Still for 10 k, I’ll take my chances. Seems the power to negotiate is always better, that way. Warranties usually put you in a victims position. Hoping for the best. I’ve heard of quite a few $13000 After-treatment repairs. I can only guess that many techs are inexperienced on the systems, and just replace everything. Costing the Customer more than was needed. I would pass, and take my chances. Just my opinion, I’ve never bought a Truck newer than 2001. No real experience.

I would definitely get a record of repairs already done if any, under warranty, per vin #, and possibly have anything that might be a problem, like filter cleaning or whatever, done by the dealer if possible. Usually if the price is right, they won’t give out any freebies. But you never know, what they’ll do, till you ask. I do know, they have a lot of inventory and should be eager to sell a Truck.

I have a 2013 Cascadia I bought from a Freightliner dealer. Run away from the Selectrucks warranty. They are nothing but crap, and they always find a way to reject the claim. Usually saying that owner was negligent in maintenance.
