Im trying to get some clarification. Ill be going through Arizona on I40 to US 93 up to Vegas.
Im on 6 axles and with Arizona being the state that allows the least amount of weight on my route I have to get my weights right. Ill be roughly 104-105k lbs. I done my weights like this.....
11000 on steer
42000 tandem
51000 tandem. My axle space is on tridem is 4ft and 4ft 1
However can I not apply for a special type of permit that will allow me up to 57k on my tridem?
@Rontonio @Oxbow @Razororange I know you run more axles than I but, I know you run that way. Anyone else
Arizona overweight permit

Last time I ran thru there they would only give me 51,800 on the tridem with 4'6" spacing.

cke Thanks this.

And 46k for your tandem. Just max it out same price.
as of September last year (somewhere I have the ADOT memo) you apply and receive a tridem bonus on any state route in AZ - where as before you could only have gotten one for I-10, I-40 and I-19.
the price difference is $90 versus $75Dave_in_AZ, IH Truck Guy, SAR and 3 others Thank this. -
Ok. I don’t think I could max it because of my axle spacings. And from what I read about Arizona my weights need to be very close to whatever I order for permits? Is there a number, is it a few hundred pounds?
Im only like 10 wide. Legal height and about 105k. I just want to make sure if I ask for that permit they won’t require something silly like a route survey.cke Thanks this. -
the tridem bonus should allow you to get very near 60k even with your short spacing
you can call central permits and ask to speak to the class c ladyDave_in_AZ, SAR, cke and 1 other person Thank this. -
Yea I spoke to someone at class C. I didn’t get much help because she kept asking questions as if I was gonna be a super load. She kept asking my height and width. Height being her main concern. She fwd me to permit and I asked them questions. The info I was given before calling them was outdated. I was given interstates only and sr68 and us93(can use the class c). I did tell permit company to order me at 54k for tridem. I was gonna wait until I got to port of entry, but didn’t know if I could do that when ordering the class c permit.....
cke Thanks this. -
I spoke to her again and got a better understanding. I don't qualify for the 57k Class C tridem permit because my axle spacing on my tried aren't at least 9 ft( 4'6 +4'6)
I asked for 54000 and permit company said no its not working in the system. So I called Class C again and was told no with those axle spacings..... Im ft 4ft and 4ft 1....cke Thanks this. -
The top 2 are parts of the loading tables from ch17 - you can based on the 3rd photo
The table are for 8 wide axles and 8 6 wide axles
The table for 8 6 wide axles with 9 0 spread is the 53379 number
that is table weight for your axle spacing - you can get that on a class A permit -
Thank you. Im just gonna get loaded Tuesday and then deal with the Arizona permit in hopes that I won't have to get to the Port of Entry or before the state line and move the machine towards my tandems.(since they do allow 46k on tandems) Ok so I tried to look up the same info based on your post and answer it for myself but I can't pull it up.... based on the photo with me having 4ft and 4'1 spacing on tridem I can apply for permit on tridem with a weight of...52290lbs?
cke Thanks this.
