I keep a set of coveralls for the real dirty jobs. Construction sites and mines can be really muddy and nasty. Extras of everything, especially socks and tshirts. Sometimes change clothes a couple times a day during summer.
Ya ever need any advice or tips, ask, plenty of us here that will help. If you haven't done so, check out the flatbed photos and the hall of shame threads. You'll learn a lot.
Guess im a flatbedder now!

Rural King. They was on sale got them for $39. I have a set of winter as well but don't ever use them cause I get warm pretty quick once the work begins.
Get the kind that the legs have two way zippers on the side, sometimes ya need some air flow. They're well worth the money with what they save ya on clothes. -
Coffey, Cabinover101 and PoleCrusher Thank this.

I was home the last 2 days, I picked up a pair of black Carhartt firm duck double front work dungarees, to see if they'll outlast jeans.
Coffey, Cabinover101, PoleCrusher and 1 other person Thank this. -

I found out on my first day before 8am that wearing a pair of jeans all week just aint gonna work anymore. And my boots just became dedicated work boots lol. I picked up a pair of carhartt rugged flex or something. The brown ones to hide the dirt. I turned wrenches for 10 years so im not scared of sweating or getting dirty as long as i can get paid.

For 4" straps just keep them on the winches for now. 2" hand ratchets fit nicely in the duffel bags that come from power tool kits.. I always seem to have a few of those. The passenger foot area is a universal crap catchall until you get boxes. I take it you dont stay with an assigned trailer?
Ive had preload mean fully strapped and ive seen it just mean load is on the deck. I prefer to strap my own personally. I dont even like it when customers try to help me unstrap. Messes up my flow and slows the whole thing down.
A chunk of pallet racking mesh fits between frame rails. You could always stick that under the flat you use most and use plastic crates with a bungee until you can get a headache rack. No one will know its there to steal.
Watch the road for loose gear. I never bought an edge protector yet, no joke, all of these plastic ones ive found in the last 11 months. People forget their whole pile on the deck and scatter it on the road. Got 4 great chains in ohio one day. So much found gear i leave quite a bit at home now.
I keep my straps in that small toolbox at the center light so i never have to walk far. Its just bolted through the ceiling and into the crossmember undersides with 4 bolts and fenderwashers. Real easy to switch to the stepdeck if the flat is gonna be down a while.PoleCrusher, Kyle G. and Coffey Thank this.
