The British were blown away because we fight. Twice. First in the Revolution at a moment's notice and later in Baltimore when no one else had the balls to fight. If you examine Patterson Park and the small hill on that in SW baltimore you will understand that the greatest land army then in existance in all the world was stopped by gaurdsmen manning rifles and artillery. With the loss of their uber experienced general, that as they say is that.

We havent stopped fighting since.

Lewis and Clark in 1805 had a Harpers Ferry Armory (Picked and located by GW) a 1803 model airgun. That was one of the tools he used to wow the semi hostile indians on the mapping exploration of the American West that we needed to learn about our new Nation. The small collection of weapons that they fitted with served to feed them and only once were raised up in a moment of real trouble 2000+ miles from no where.

Oh yes, our Nation is built on the gun. But thats not everything about it. We are probably the first experiment in world history where we are truly supposed to be free. And bearing arms is part of that freedom. Some choose not to have it, thats awesome. But as long evil walks the land, being trained and able to enforce certain situations such as home defense of you and your family and ending threats in other ways, it is sometimes necessary to call 911 after it's all over to get them involved in the mess.

Unfortunately for some, there are those who keep gnawing on our freedoms. And at some point we are going to have to call Larry the Bug Exterminator to take care of those termites.
