yeah, but MOST places the higher seniority guys take the bulk (can you blame them? Lol). Gotta pay your dues on the side loaders first.

the sideloaders are 6 months of hell. After that they’re not bad.

Shuttles easy, kind of boring. no traffic at night. I run over Tehachapi on 58 2 or 3 shuttles depending. I was doing these exact loads for the summer as a temp. Still haven't tried bulk, Don't want to to routes.

I drove for Pepsi several years ago. Pepsi Beverages Company. Just about the most unorganized company ever. Poorly run, no regard for the well being of their drivers, or any other employee for that matter. Before I was a driver I worked in the warehouse. Worked many, many 16 hour days. After working 16 hours they expected you back in 8 hours. So you get MAYBE 5 hours of sleep.

Back to the driving, theyd expect you to work 14 hours a day if thats how long it took you to finish your route. Youd get brow beat if you brought back any stops.

Most of the equipment was complete garbage. Trucks had all kinds of leaks, no a/c or heat. Most of the trucks at my barn were 1990s Internationals. This was post 2010. Those things were beat. Electric pallet jacks were bought from the lowest bidder. Most wouldnt make it through the whole day before dying on you.

Equipment never got fixed. If it did get fixed it would break down again days later, because it was cheap garbage to begin with. Its a miracle any of that trash passes a DOT inspection.

On top of all that, you dont get paid much. back then $50,000 was talked about like it was a lot of money. Anyone with a CDL making $50k should be embarrassed these days.

Turnover was incredibly high. I cant even tell you how many drivers that wouldnt come back after their first day. Probably a whole new crew every 6 months.

wow thats crazy ! Since i started worked there within days i seen already how bad pepsico like for a example yesterday morning they brought me and this other guy into the office and told us both that they gonna play a game call flip the coin and the reason for that was because me and him got hired at the same day and it was for some bs sonarity however you spelled it so the guy won cause he picked it tails so now for that he picks his route from the board before me since im in the bottom which i think is all bs so after that the supervisor was like yea we have a force day where pretty much if its your day off we will call you to mandatory come in ... im like in my head wth did i get myself into but anyways i agree with you all the trucks are garbage ! Only the guys who’s been there longer get brand new trucks honestly its a piece of #### job i am only there to get my exp. and i am out what sucks about it too they always looking for drivers like crazy cause like you said alot of people quit the first few days ... think about it they only give you one hand truck to unload 500 to 600 cases and then on top of that you gotta do pack out smh crazy !

Flip a coin for seniority? What a bunch of hacks.

How about use who showed up to work first? Who electronically signed the job offer first?

BigDog Trucker, PE_T and Jmelendez1223 Thank this.

You should have said that both still have the same seniority, but that you two are flipping a coin for who gets to pick route first and for the first month. Next month is your turn, for example.
