I meant go to a Cummins shop to have them look into Cummins problems.
You can get a reman big cam engine in North Carolina for $11,000.
$35,000 is insane.jsnell, tommymonza and Intothesunset Thank this. -
He knows his Krap about N-14s, ,I can rebuild it but I will Pay what he requires within reason for his experience and knowledge to inform me or check it over after assembly.
We do mostly Detroits in our shop with very few older Cummins.
I can do a long block with heads , drive with Cummins parts under $10,000.
Injectors and harness, turbo and wastegate with sensors. Radiator ,hoses ,belts water pump another 4-5 grand.Last edited: Aug 9, 2019
Dave_in_AZ Thanks this. -
OK guy's we found the problem. I took it to another shop and told them to check everything and get this truck running good. It turns out that this whole time the engine had wrong cam followers and the injection timing was way off. I did take the truck to one of the shops before to check timing and was told that everything was good, time to try and get my money back. Thanks for all the help guy's.
DetroitDudeBro, HopeOverMope, boneebone and 1 other person Thank this. -
So Big Joe TX do can you think you can get back all the money you spent on the truck since the mechanics were pretty much guessing at the problem ?
-
Wow. What a bunch of expensive crapola you had to go through. How in the heck did it get the wrong cam followers in it? Or was it just improper injector timing? I would never think that a truck would run ok without a load, then run like sh☆☆ under load. I hope those incompetant shops do you justice and refund your money. Another case of trusting " the professionals"
roshea Thanks this. -
It's hard to imagine that you took that to a shop and they set the gauge up on it and did not know the timing was wrong. Incompetence like that staggers the mind.roshea Thanks this. -
When you replaced the peddle sensor did you do a calibration on it? I had my red top celect plus bumped to 525/1850 and i came back with the first 25% dead peddle, i just shut her down, cycled the key, floored it a few times while not running but key on, cycled the key again and it was back to normal.
