BC Trucking companies collecting cash from foreigners for jobs...

    How an immigration scheme steers newcomers into Canadian trucking jobs – and puts lives at risk

    I'm sick of seeing this happen new inexperienced drivers in my industry driving and being exploited. Guys I know are paying companies $10,000 to $20,000 to companies for jobs in hopes of getting their PR.

    A lot in Surrey, BC and West Abbotsford, so many jobs posted on jobbank for this by trucking companies.

    They pay the drivers $25 a hour on the books but then the driver only keeps minimum wage and returns the rest back to the company owner (with the taxes paid on that difference also given back to the owner in cash).

    Fraud, fraud, fraud.

    Yes it is fraud. But minimum wage here is 10.00 so make that 140 a day minimum or close to 200 for a full driving day It will work out nicely in a carrier located here in Arkansas.

    Keep in mind wife and I averaged 4.59 a hour each over 7400 hours worked in 2001. Which was a little over half minimum wage then in effect (About 6.25)

    And the result is our insurance goes up 500%. That's victimizing just about everyone, certainly needs to be addressed.

    I'd comment here, but because the topic mainly concerns foreigners who run companies and drivers who are foreigners, I would get nuked because anything I say on it would be deemed by this site as racist.
