Snow socks will spin if you use too much acceleration just as too much pressure on snow chains will cause them to snap.
Here is a video showing a pickup truck with a driver who's reaction to tire spin is more throttle. Note how he tears them and then says "He didn't think he was going out of his way to abuse them". I don't prefer them as once you learn how to efficiently put on chains, the only real advantage for socks seems to be their weight but they do work if you moderate your acceleration, speed and distance.
Maybe they were sick in school when they were to learn that kinetic friction is smaller than the static friction?x1Heavy, WesternPlains, Dave_in_AZ and 1 other person Thank this. -

I have a set of socks... I considered putting them on... But they wouldn't have lasted the 25 miles.... Let alone the full 50 if they had put the chain restriction on Vail before I got to it... Chains were required to go over Eisenhower. Shortly after I topped Vail they put chain restriction on it too.
@x1Heavy I've run in MUCH worse road conditions than that barefoot... But I don't fancy paying a $500 fine for not chaining when the sign says "CMV must use chains."x1Heavy, stuckinthemud, InTooDeep and 5 others Thank this. -
Bought them special this morning... With points. Someone at the shop seems to have relieved me of my bungies. So those are going under lock and key.Dave_in_AZ, InTooDeep, WesternPlains and 2 others Thank this.

Ive actually been really impressed with how they perform... I've seen others with duals having trouble where I dont have any. But mine arent exactly a regular highway tried either... More like a good all terrain auto tire. We're it not for the restriction I wouldnt have hesitated to run it barefoot... Just would have had to take it slow, about as slow as I did with chains on.x1Heavy, Dave_in_AZ, InTooDeep and 2 others Thank this.

Have run wide singles for drives since 2007.
Never had any major problems with them.
Now that more tread patterns are available, things have been better. Have been using ones with a more traction type pattern.Dave_in_AZ, InTooDeep, Cattleman84 and 2 others Thank this. -
Yes sir! I wish it were like that here too.... I mean, attendants that would serve the public with precision and with no delay... but unfortunately it's not like that here.... not at all... this place is a mess.. and nobody gives a darn about it! Everything and everybody runs late. Documents that someone needs and were supposed to be in their hands months ago, are still sitting on someone's desk somewhere... their system is all f up... they say there's "too much work" and not enough office people to do the job and they have problems with their system and it's a hell of a bureaucracy, of incompetence, dishonesty and stupidity... and government has no respect for its citizens... but that's how this effing system "works" in this M F country... And everybody here is used to that and accepts that... and that's the way it is...
I want to go back to the US and never step foot on this place again... but no idea when that will happen yet....
It's quite an experience when you have responsibilities and obligations in 2 very different countries.... but if everything happens for a reason and that doesn't kill you, it oughta make you stronger IMO.... and life goes on....

A postponed and day old Daytona 500 is similar to day old FJ pizza. It just isn't the same. Even the beer tastes like a skunked Natty.
Rained out Daytona is the real ground hog day. Six more weeks fellas.x1Heavy, Dave_in_AZ, InTooDeep and 1 other person Thank this. -
