Miles not the same as load info.?

The short of it is that most companies don't pay hub miles.

 

300 miles is a bit excessive. Is this a 1099 paying company?

 

I would look into it further. Contact someone in payroll who handles the settlements. Explain your situation and find out if it's a mistake or if they really are screwing you out of more than $100 on the trip miles. Were any of those miles deadhead? Some companies don't pay deadhead.
If you really drove 300 loaded miles unpaid, that's half a days work you did for free... If that's going to be the norm, I might think about switching companies.

 

Lol... Yep thats the way it works... Even if the company pays "practical miles" you can expect to take a small cut on longer cross country runs.

The computer program that comes up with the paid miles for a route will try to find the ABSOLUTE SHORTEST possible way from 1 zip code to the other zip code when they use HHG miles... I mean it will run you down the stupidest 2 lane roads to ever thought is of to save 1 mile... Even if that way takes 1 hour longer.

Trust me you will never buck that system except to just not haul loads paying anything other than practical miles.

I have a pretty regular run I make... It's like 1850 hub miles, 1 way. It pays 1773 miles... Which is figured using practical miles. Unless you take the exact route the computer figures you will always have different miles than whats paid... And ALWAYS if the route is figured using HHG miles.

20% ground miles difference than paid by household guide miles.

I can run 1100 dollars worth of miles get paid 750 gross and taxes eat the rest. I am left with a pittance. For a week.

After a year? Gross income only around 35000 at best. In 80's dollars its like 60,000 today. But in 2001 we still made 34000 each. Its BS. But its the way it is.

 

When I run my mileage differs right around 50 miles per a leg. Meaning if I get a load from:

Burlington, NJ to Xenia, Oh, to Lemont, Il all on the same load I am shorted 100 miles.

Whereas if I go from Burlington, NJ to Lemont, Illinois I am only shorted 50 miles.

If you have 300 miles different you might want to check your fuel locations. First I route mine without the fuel stops. Then I add the fuel stops one by one. If they take me off of my route by more the a couple of miles I will find one that won't deviate me as much from my route. I then call dispatch and ask if I can fill up here instead. Explaining that the other one will take me 20 miles off my route or whatever. They have always changed my fuel route without a problem. 20 miles out of the way is 40 extra miles and time.

 

Zip to Zip is normally underpaid by 10%.

So... 500 mile trip, 50 miles are unpaid. Company will tell you 455. GPS will say 500.
