After an 8 hour drive back to Michigan from Marshfield and a weekend of catching up on sleep and laundry, the next phase begins. Since I now have a Wisconsin CDL, my first assignment is to goto Michigan SOS and get that license switched back to Michigan. It's presidents day so I can't do that until tomorrow (tuesday). Other jobs to get done include finishing a small pack, obtaining a new sleeping bag, and making sure my paperwork is in order for 7-12 days out with a trainer.
I called a DM/FM this morning on the drivers line and touched base, it was quick. From the sounds of it, getting me on a training truck should go quickly, he even suggested tuesday afternoon. I have to call him back when my license work is finished. I'm enjoying the time off, however, want to keep in the swing of driving so I want to get back out ASAP.
I have a phone appointment with the benefits dept later today and plan to get that done.
I have a lot to learn and frankly hope to keep myself busy during my time with the trainer. If I'm tired by the end of the day I'm sure I'll just retire with my duffell of stuff in my bunk and wake up the next day. From my experience with RDTC, by the end of the work day it was time to be alone and get refresh/rested. I will have my cell too so hopefully will have a few minutes to update my educational path on this thread.
I wish the best for my colleagues Technoroom, Irish, and TheOSU as they head out on their phase 3. Hopefully we will get some feedback from them as well. RDTC would not have been the same without them. I am blessed to have had the opportunity to learn with them.
hope to be back out in a truck soon!

goblue Thanks this. -
Completing the benefits department call now. I should be all set, other than getting the Badger CDL transferred to O H - I O tomorrow. Then on the phone with my DM/FM to get a ride.
We had a great class at RDTC with Techroom, Irish & GoBlue. Does anyone else like the fact that Roehl tractors are red &/or grey vs blue? I can't been seen in that color around Columbus!
Best of luck over the next couple weeks with trainers...stay in touch guys.Bigdubber Thanks this. -
There are blue ones, and white, some other colors too mostly variations of red.
-
I heard they started buying different colors now, but almost everything we saw in in Marshfield was red or grey. Had to mention it to goblue.

Hope you get a trainer as fun as me! I'm a legend in my own mind.

Got Jonathan...1st trip...load from OH to drop in MO on Wednesday. Leaving in the morning. They don't waste time around here do they?!
-
I hope you get trainers as good as I got.. Unfortunately I don't remember their names, but all 3 were top notch. Even though I'm not with Big Red (Big Rainbow now?) anymore, I'd recommend their trainers to anyone..
And if Jake is still a DM/FM up there, he's the tops.. -
Your time out in a truck with the Trainer is Phase 3? Today, I finished the 8 day Orientation in Dallas that Roehl has for recent CDL Grads (no, did not go to RDTC) which, I was told, is Phase One training. Now, I proceed to Phase Two training which may vary from 9 - 13 days where I am OTR in a truck with a Trainer. I should find out tomorrow morning who my Trainer is and when we can meet up. After testing out of Phase Two, then I will proceed to Phase Three for several weeks where I will be solo in my own truck but under the supervision of a "Developmental" Fleet Manager. Are the RDTC Grads under a different program, or do you know? After all three Phases are finished, I will be driving in the Texas Regional Fleet. Roehl is a terrific company and I am extremely pleased to be on board!

Congrats ATX on getting through J's class. We met last Friday afternoon. Sat in on trip planning. GoBlue means Phase 2. Phase 3 is in your own truck. RDTC students get the same stuff you do in Phase 1 as part of their schooling. Everyone gets the same Phase 2 and 3. Good luck.
