Check the overall condition of the wiring on the truck and check different components. Starter, Alternator, egr cooler valves. If they look older...
Also make sure when the fan is in freewheel mode that it isn't rattling. ( bad fan clutch).
Your trying to figure out why the old owner wants to get rid of the truck.
Or take for a long test drive to see if any gremlins pop up.
I would go threw the computer diagnosis. Check for codes.
I also had good luck spraying penetrating fluid in the key hole.
It's possible the lock mechanism isn't releasing properly.
