Hi I have a few questions about Star Transport out of Morton, IL as I have recently graduated CDL school and I am interested in driving for them. From what little I have read on here people dont seem to like them for whatever reason.
Anyways on their website it says that our "drivers recieve training in-house before going on the road" Just how much training are they talking about? I thought if you have your CDL already that you would just head out with a trainer after orientation?
On the website under 'Drivers' it says 6 to 8 week training program. Does that include time with the trainer? Also it mentions that "drivers recieve hazardous materials training along with other special DOT training". Do they require the Hazmat endorsment? The driver requirements on their site are a little vague.
I know they were with Driver Solutions not long ago and they had some information about them but they must have stopped doing that now as I dont see them listed on there anymore. How much do they pay per mile? Average length of haul? How well maintained is their equipment? Do they let you bring the truck home or do you have to leave it at the Terminal?
Thanks a lot for any help you can give me,as i'm sure I will have other questions.

You might want to shop around a little b4 going to Star. The only good thing about them is hometime on weekend. Miles are very low. Pay is lower then most. If all you care about is home every weekend go for it. Good Luck.

Star is nothing but liers, Bob in saftey was told after I graduated MTC in late OCT that my wife was due to have our daughter within a few weeks. I asked if he wanted me to wait to report so that I could do training and not take time off for my daughters birth but report after it. He said"No we will get you home!" I met a driver on Nov 3rd in BHam for ride to Morton, Bon run him all over and I arrived in Morton on Nov 8th. No pay No help w eatting. And was told to sleep why driver drove then sit up while he slept. I was given 1 hotel. I was lied to 3 times about being brought straight in to Morton.
After I did get there. i was put with a trainer left Sun Night. My wife was scheduled that tues to be induced the following tues. Bob Again lied saying"We will get you home stay on truck till Fri. I did ended up getting my own way home. Bob told me I was just gonna have to miss the birth. I said "not gonna happen" So Fri morning I hitched a ride and told Company was heading home. Was told call us when she delivers to get p[icked up. I became dad on 19th and called the 21st to get ride. Was told call back Dec 1st then 15th the Jan 2nd. Then I was told I had been terminated for failure to keep in touch and report. All by Bob who said I didn't keep in touch. My Cell phone shows diffrent. Steer Clear of them and thier bed buddy school MTC -
Star hasn't been a "bed buddy with MTC" since November 2008. -
