I had a problem with this recently. Not sure if it applies to you but it might help. If you're not using a scale to charge your A/C to manufacturer spec (like you should be doing) then at least make sure you have your engine revved to cruising speed when you're charging. Somewhere around 1200-1500. Our shop ran into a problem where the A/C would work perfect at idle but as soon as they hit the road the higher speed of the compressor along with the high outside temp caused the pressures to go so high that the high pressure safety switch cut out the compressor when driving.
