I have already by-passed all the fuel lines from the ECM back to the tank. I put a test line in from the ECM fitting into a diesel can. So it if it is sucking air pre-pump it has to be either from the ECM or the line going to the pump. Which all visually look fine and are not leaking fuel.

yep, good way to find.
really MB fuel system is one of the best, becouse it let truck run with air in fuel, warms up fuel in engine block to optimal for PLD units temperature, cools ECM and warms fuel tanks.
PLD pump units are installed in engine block, fuel never goes out there and this place keeps warm when truck sits under cold weather, that's why MB engines start when other not, especially when temperatures are below zeroRideandrepair Thanks this. -
So do you think it is normal for all the burbles and fuel moving around in tank? Which has to be caused by air in the return lines.
Or should I try bleeding the entire system by cracking injector lines? -
do this bleeding only if engine stalls running all fuel....
but I'd check intake lines, becouse if they have some damage you may have problems to start engine up next morning -
I am having perrty much the same problem with my MBE 4000.I loose prime when I shut it off.I have a primer pump that I hook up to the fuel filter and pump fuel into the system. Now when I do that I hear and see bubbles in the left fuel tank.My shop is going to replace the check valve at the back of the engine.I hope it helps.Any advice is welcome. My truck is an 04 Columbia

IF mbe is similar to dd15, i had a similar problem that ended up being the low pressure pump itself letting in the air gears in pump were worn. truck still pulled 100k no problem got to a point were i didnt shut it off due to hard starting
-
I pulled the check valve that is on the back of engine out. Mine was clean and the spring was stiff.
The fuel pump issue does make since. Did you just replace the entire fuel pump and it fixed your problem? -
We are going to change the valve at the back of the engine first then see what happens from there.
I guess I shouldn't complane about my engine to much as it has over 935,000 miles with out an overhaul -
it is pressure limiting valve. ball + spring. when pressure is over 4.5 BAR it lets fuel come to return line
